A WONDERFUL CHARITY OPERA GALA BY LIFELINE HELLAS

In the packed Theater of Athens College, the international humanitarian organization Lifeline Hellas successfully held a unique charity Opera Gala on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, under the auspices of HRH Princess Katherine.
In an evening full of glamour and emotion, the operas Carmen, Traviata, Norma, Turandot, and Lucia impressively came to life on stage, offering a captivating recital of lyrical art that received the audience’s warmest applause.
The purpose of the event was to continue Lifeline Hellas’s work of providing incubators to the Children’s Hospital “Agia Sofia” and to support the Athens College Scholarship Program.
Famous sopranos Inga Balabanova, Vasiliki Karagianni, Elena Kelesidou, Lamprini Batzio, baritone Nikolas Karagiaouris, and tenor Yiannis Christopoulos delivered unforgettable performances from the international lyrical repertoire, captivating the audience with their wonderful voices. Special guest and host of the evening was the charismatic Giorgos Davlas.
The evening began movingly with Princess Katherine’s grandson, Alexandros Andrews, who has been honored for his vocal achievements and represents LIFELINE4YOUTH and the project “Children Helping Children,” dedicating two songs to his beloved grandmother.
The great lyrical soloists were accompanied by the fifty-member “Athens Philharmonia Orchestra” and the thirty-member “Athens Youth Academic Choir” under the direction of the renowned conductor Nikos Maliaras.
The President of Lifeline Hellas, Nasia Papamanoli, warmly thanked the audience for their touching response, the sponsors of the evening for their invaluable support, the conductor, and the talented artists for their gracious participation in this charity evening.
The Honorary Vice President of Lifeline Hellas, Dr. Anji Margariti Andrews, conveyed the touching message of HRH Princess Katherine, in which she thanked the audience and the contributors to the performance and sent her love and best wishes to all attendees.
The common Commander of the interconnected General Children’s Hospitals of Athens, Emmanouil Papasavvas, in his speech, praised the valuable work of Lifeline Hellas and warmly thanked the organization for its contribution to children’s hospitals.
The Opera Gala evening was a brilliant celebration of solidarity and high art, combining the grandeur of opera with the essence of giving.
The cocktail that followed was attended by Princess Katherine’s son, David Andrews, with his wife Dr. Anji Margariti Andrews, Honorary Vice President of Lifeline Hellas, and their son Alexandros, and Princess Katherine’s sister Betty Roumelioti. Also present were the Honorary President of the organization Dr. Zisis Boukouvalas with his wife Dr. Alkistis Prinou, members of the Board of Directors of Lifeline Hellas Dr. Fofi Kamposiora, Dr. Ioannis Patiniotis, Yiannis Sachinis, Ivi Azaria, Marilli Syllantavou, Aurette Arkas, Ioanna Dragni, Erietta Vordoni, and Michalis Dalakouras. Representing Athens College were Elli Filippopoulou, a member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic American Educational Foundation with her husband Giorgos Bourtzos, Kastalia Samoili, Angeliki Koutiva, and Amalia Zausi.
