THE CUTTING OF THE VASILOPITA AND THE ANNUAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF LIFELINE HELLAS

With many wishes, special warmth, and a pervasive spirit of giving for the new year, the cutting of the vasilopita of the humanitarian organization Lifeline Hellas took place along with the Annual General Assembly on Monday, February 10, at the Ecali Club.
HRH Princess Katherine from New York welcomed the President and Members of the association, congratulated them on their significant work last year, and expressed her gratitude for everyone’s support of Lifeline Hellas’s charitable work. Together with HRH Prince Alexander, they wished Lifeline to continue with the same passion in its significant work of providing incubators to public hospitals in Greece and for everyone to enjoy the greatest good, health.
Then, the President of the General Assembly, George Syllantavos, referred to the important work of Lifeline Hellas last year.
Specifically, Lifeline Hellas offered:
- two neonatal ventilators, two incubators, and a neonatal hypothermia system to the University General Hospital “Attikon”,
- four incubators to the General Children’s Hospital “P. A. Kyriakou”,
- a dialysis machine to the General Hospital of Chios “Skylitseio”,
- a warming humidifier to the General Hospital – Maternity “Elena Venizelou” and
- support for a disabled child with rehabilitation therapies.
Additionally, the actions of Lifeline Hellas included:
- Supporting the Hellenic Society for Adolescent Health and its activities,
- The children of the Piraeus Minors’ Shelter “Good Shepherd” visited the Santa Claus Kingdom and received gifts, as they do every Christmas, and
- The “Little Santa” as part of the “Children Helping Children” campaign of Lifeline4Youth visited the children’s hospitals of Athens and Penteli at Christmas and distributed gifts to the hospitalized children.
Furthermore, the association’s newsletter was renewed, sponsored by Lectus Adv, and after fourteen years, the association’s website was redesigned.
Subsequently, the President of Lifeline Hellas, Nasia Papamanoli, thanked the Members and friends of the association and presented the upcoming activities and charitable goals, expressing pride that since the beginning of this year, five more incubators and two monitors have been ordered for the children’s hospitals of Athens.
Finally, she praised the amazing team of Lifeline Hellas that unites for the good of the country’s hospitals and announced the next event of Lifeline Hellas on Wednesday, March 19, the Opera Gala at the Athens College theater. The event will feature sopranos Inga Balabanova, Vasiliki Karagianni, Elena Kelesidou, Lambrini Batzio, baritone Nikolas Karagkiaouris, tenor Giannis Christopoulos with special guest Giorgos Davlas. Also participating will be the renowned “Philharmonia Orchestra of Athens” and conductor Nikos Maliaras and the thirty-member “Academic Youth Choir of Athens”.
The cutting of the vasilopita followed, and wishes were exchanged among the attendees who enjoyed operettas and beloved songs of the Greek repertoire by soprano Eva Michelidaki and baritone Nikolas Karagkiaouris accompanied by pianist Panos Loumakis. The lucky coin was won by Amalia Papaikonomou, a member of the association.
The wonderful vasilopita and sweets of Lifeline Hellas were offered by the Fresh Patisserie company of Ilias Krassas and Lena Delenika, the clavichord was offered by the Nakas company, and the hall was provided by the Ecali Club.
At the General Assembly, the son of Princess Katherine, David Andrews, attended with his wife Dr. Angie Margariti Andrews, Honorary Vice President of Lifeline Hellas, Princess Katherine’s sister Betty Roumelioti, the Honorary President of the organization Ioannis Trikardos with his wife Emi, the General Secretary of the General Assembly Panagiotis Antonakopoulos, the Members of the Board of Directors of Lifeline Hellas, Vice Presidents Dr. Fofi Kamposiora and Dr. Ioannis Patiniotis, Ivi Azaria, Marilli Syllantavou, Alexia Savrami, Aurette Arkas, Erietta Vordoni, and Michalis Dalakouras. Also, the event was honored by the presence of the Members of the association.
